My Moari Voki

 Hey blogger

This Friday in Toroa hub we have watched a video of how maui fished up the north island but except with no words or narrating. The reason for this was because for our task we had to narrate of what we think he would of said heres a link to it.

Click me

Heres what it says in it incase you cant understand it

Maui was in the sea day and night. He grabbed his Matua and chucked it overboard. As it bubbled in the water. He sat there and waited, he waited and waited. Until the Matua started to move around. He quickly moved into a squatting position and pulled, he pulled and pulled until he could see something that looked like a giant Whai repo. Then the giant Whai repo arises from the deep waters of the hūkerikeri. And turned into the north island.

Hope you enjoyed it

Fantastic Matariki

Happy Matariki everyone!

On the 2 July, we celebrated the Māori New Year, a time to consider the year ahead. The days are starting to lengthen and spring will soon be here, we just need to get through this cold winter first! Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have got many stories attached to them. We looked at two; one about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow-colored. We have mixed these two stories to create the design of our kites. My kite has a taniwha and the body of it is faded into a cloud because it represents wind I also colored it to be like a rainbow.

What stories have you heard about Matariki?

Matariki print

Kia Ora everyone!                                                                                                                                                    Welcome back to my blog! So it's nearly Matariki and our class decided to make Matariki art.                                 Here is mine, I really enjoyed this activity!

Are you celebrating Matariki? Now if you want to make one of these of your own here are the instructions.
  1. Draw your design on a spare piece of paper just remember With the stars you must make sure to draw them on the opposite side and possibly way than mine because if you don't it will not end up like mine and it will be the wrong way round
  2. Draw it again on a piece of foam (make sure to have a bit of pressure)
  3. Have a roller of paint and then paint of two colors ( or more)
  4. Put a piece of paper over your wet design ( Make sure to add some pressure so it sticks)
  5. Take the paper off and add your name so you don't get mixed up
  6. Rinse the foam under a tap ( so all the paint is off)
  7. Get a paper towel and dry it so you can have another go
  8. Do it as many times as you want!
  9. Get a piece of card and cut out an even frame
  10. Put the picture in the frame and cut off any extra paper hanging out the side
  11. Glue it all together
  12. Add your signature down the bottom

(if you cant read it zoom in)
(oh our egg broke)

Well that's it maybe you should try and do this science experiment

The holocaust

 Hey bloggers

                                                               Link to my website

This term in Toroa hub for literacy we have been learning about the holocaust which is a big war where Germany invaded the Jewish countries and took them to concentration camps.

The reason the Germans took the Jewish away from their homes was so they could enslave them until they were useless then they shot them but sometimes they tricked them by saying we're taking you to a shower but really it was a gas chamber which is a way of killing humans and animals. Whenever the Nazis put Jewish in the gas chamber they left them there for 10-18 minutes which was enough time for them to drop dead.

During the Holocaust, there was a Jewish girl called Anne Frank who lasted 761 days hiding behind a bookcase/Secret annex with her family and a boy she liked. On August 4 1944 the Nazis went to investigate Anne Frank's house because there had been weird and illegal activity going on in there that's when one of them discovered that there was a hiding annex behind the bookcase and they all got discovered and taken to a concentration camp.

Anne Frank and her sister almost survived but 2 weeks before the Russians came to stop they died from typhus which is where your cold and haven't had any food.

Laurel or Yanny ?

Hi bloggers

(Watch the video first)

This week for reading we were listening to a recording of Yanny or Laurel. For some of you, you can hear both but that's not what I'm here to talk about today I'm gonna tell you why you hear one or the other.

If you hear Laurel you listen to real loud music most days and your eharing may not be as good as people that hear yanny which ocassionaly listen to music there air drums are still good.Strangley for some people they hear both sometimes yanny sometimes laurel.

I hear both because I listen to loud bass and heavy metal sometimes.

     Comment below what you hear

From one place to another

Hey bloggers it's me (again) but today I'm posting about what happened many years back the arrival/invasion of Europeans in good old NZ

This is the route they took to New Zealand they a couple stops but they made it but unfortunately, the Maori didn't know of their arrival so they thought they were intruders because they came and took some of their flax and some of their different  main resources and claim the land until they decided they should have a treaty but there was one Maori chief who said NO.

Tāmoko

Hey bloggers for the last couple of weeks in Toroa on Friday we have been researching about Tāmoko which Maori face tattoos. Here is my poster

We did this because it was something different and not many people knew what it was because see them every day and some people think that there gang stuff. Anyway, that concludes today's blog post see you next time.

Lego master toroa

Hey blogger this week Toroa we made lego portraits of ourselves here's mine

This is how we did it so first the teachers printed out lego character bases and then we had to design them to look exactly like us and with our clothes then we coloured them in but when we all thought we were finished the teachers said we had to add something as a background so I put in a dragon I didn't have long to do it so maybe a little bit bad then I was gonna have massive flame behind but then I thought I wouldn't have enough time to colour it but it still looks pretty good anyway bye, for now, see you next time

All about me!!

Warning front picture of me is cringe

Hey, bloggers this week we had to do a canva video about ourselves and what we like so people can know more about us and what we like to do when we're bored or happy this my one. if it goes too fast for you feel free to pause it :)
Hope you enjoyed if you watch this I think you should make your own one on canva bye:)
